OUR STORY
Looking for a long story about the family history of the farm?
Sorry ... Not Here
Proudly a first-generation farm.
I don’t have decades of family history to guide me through the farming process. I have books, the internet, and a ton of mistakes to teach me what I need to know. Besides, I’m not here to farm like it’s 1995... I’m here to farm like it’s 1805.
I feel like we’ve gotten so much smarter—at losing valuable information. All the science, all the new ways of doing things—and yet, all we really need is to go back to the old way of doing things.
Anderson Acres was born from a passion to return to the simple ways of growing food.
Modern farming has focused on producing perfect-looking fruits and vegetables that last longer than they naturally would. Make it bigger, more disease-resistant, brighter in color—but all of those genetically modified traits often come with a trade-off: taste. Not to mention the health risks that come with all the chemicals used in the process.
So, I set out to grow produce like people did centuries ago. No chemicals. No genetically modified food. No field tilling. No fertilizers. Just clean, great-tasting food. Of course, I had to learn everything the hard way—fail more times than I care to admit—and then fail some more. But that is all part of the process.
Was it worth it? Absolutely. And I hope you’ll agree when you bite into a tomato that you can suddenly taste again.

Why Regenerative Farming?
Some studies say that the United States has only another 50-60 seasons of farming left before all our topsoil is completely degraded and unable to hold life. Some people say that tilling the fields contributes to global warming and others will claim it’s perfectly fine. Some people swear by pesticides, herbicides and insecticides while others say they can completely destroy the endocrine system in our bodies and cause numerous health problems, even cancer.
I am not a scientist, nor did I study anything remotely close in school, but I do know that I do not want to gamble with my health. And I absolutely do not trust mega corporations like Monsanto and Bayer, who swear products like glyphosate are totally safe. A quick check of some past court cases paints an entirely different picture.
So, Regenerative Farming... I guess I could have simply told you at the start that I choose things like regenerative farming practices, permaculture and no-till or no-dig because I believe in letting nature do what nature has been best at for thousands of years. These practices take a more hands off approach and they overcome the problems that may arise by looking back to nature to figure out a solution. Because, after all, nature never used to rely on Round Up or John Deere. I don't think it needs to now. Oh, and without all the chemicals and nasty results they bring, I believe you will uncover and find the flavors and enjoyment in food that was once there long ago, before “modern farming.”
